The Irishman is a brand of Irish single malt whisky owned and produced by Walsh Whiskey Distillery. Walsh Whiskey Distillery was established in 1999 by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh, husband and wife. It is a family business dedicated to reviving Irish whisky as one of the world’s most appreciated spirits. Bernard and Rosemary journey in creating the perfect drop of whisky lead to the creation of an internationally known portfolio of super-premium and award-winning whisky, The Irishman and Writer’s Tears.

The Irishman and Writer’s Tears offer different taste profiles and are unique through the recreation of traditional Irish whisky recipes from the 19th Century, Ireland’s golden era of whisky distilling. Writer’s Tears is inspired by the deep, lasting bond with creative thinkers and artists that defined the Irish culture in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Many great writers would take refuge in their local public house to draw inspiration from the observations of daily lives while enjoying the comfort of their favourite dram of Irish whisky.

The Irishman Single Malt is an Irish single malt whisky aged in a combination of American Ex-Bourbon barrels and European Olorosso sherry casks for more than 10 years before bottling. Similar to other Irish whiskies, The Irishman is also triple distilled. This expression is small batch production, with each batch having a maximum of 6000 bottles. Each bottle carries the batch number and signature as a mark of the highest quality.
