<p>In the summer of 1886, William Grant with his seven sons and two daughters by his side began to build the distillery by hand, stone by stone only with the help of one stonemason. William and his family finally completed construction after one year and named it Glenfiddich which stand for Valley of the Deer in Gaelic. The first drop of spirit fell from the Glenfiddich Distillery copper stills on Christmas Day 1887.</p>
<p>William’s passion, determination and pioneering spirit continue to guide the Glenfiddich brand. The brand is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family-owned and is now the World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky.</p>
<p>Glenfiddich 15 Years is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky created using a technique pioneered by our Malt Master and its warm, spicy flavours are transformed with the alchemy of the Solera Vat. Inspired by the sherry bodegas of Spain and Portugal, the Solera Vat is handcrafted from oak. Glenfiddich 15 Years old is aged in European sherry oak casks and virgin oak casks and mellowed in the Solera Vat, gathering full intensity inside this large oak tun. The Solera Vat is never emptied and kept half full of whiskies since 1998. It is also the secret behind this whisky becoming the first 15 years old expression to enter the top ten best-selling single malts.</p>
