This is Mr.Chow’s guide to some of the best alcohols you can bring to celebrate another year on this floating rock in space. 

Factors to Consider Before Making a Purchase

The last thing you want is to spend hundreds on a bottle the recipient won’t even like. This is why it’s important to consider what the birthday girl/boy would enjoy, instead of what YOU think qualifies as good alcohol. Besides that, having some foresight on how the party will turn out would definitely help as well.

These questions make a good starter thought:

• What does the guest list look like? Small party or big party? Mostly girls or guys?
• What’s the theme? Can’t bring wine to a cowboy-themed party!
• Is it a day or night event?
• What type of food is being served and will my choice make a good match?
• Maybe I should get something unique for the host? For example, something nostalgic to them.

What Kind of Alcohol Should You Bring?

Depending on who the birthday boy/girl is, the preferred alcohol could be beer, wine, champagne, spirits, or even cocktails. Take a look at which to opt for:

Budweiser

If your party is food-heavy and drinks are just a companion, you’re going to want something easy to drink that won’t fill people up. Soju

Better yet, soju is incredibly versatile as a base in cocktails. You can mix soju with beer, sprite, Yakult, sprite + Yakult + Melona ice cream bars, and many more to create the ultimate birthday concoction. Chow recommends Jinro’s plum flavour to drink on its own, and the original or strawberry flavour to mix. 

Vodka for Birthday Cake Martinis
