Description
Originally introduced in 1998, Tanqueray Malacca Gin is a gin that traces its roots back to a recipe crafted by Charles Waugh Tanqueray in 1839. Renowned for his pursuit of exotic spices to enhance his gin creations, Tanqueray drew inspiration from his voyage along the southwestern coast of the Malay Peninsula, resulting in a spiced spirit. While it quickly gained a devoted following among bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts, the gin was unfortunately discontinued in 2001.
However, in early 2013, Tanqueray Malacca was reintroduced to the market. This revived edition of the gin offers a sweeter profile with a reduced emphasis on juniper and a more prominent presence of citrus flavors. Initially launched in the late 1990s, Malacca had a short-lived existence before being discontinued, but its revival was fueled by its growing reputation among bartenders passionate about rediscovering and celebrating classic gin styles, particularly the original Old Tom gin varieties.
